Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Our beautiful Frederick "Freddie" Rowan Whewell was born on 24th May 2020. Trauma endured during a non urgent c section resulted in brain damage from severe oxygen deprivation and skull fractures. He was transferred to Bristol NICU where he heartbreakingly passed away 5 days later. Although cruelly cut short, the amazing staff at Bristol allowed us to share some wonderful memories with our beautiful baby boy. Memories that at one point, we thought we were never going to experience.

This was without doubt the worse week of our lives but due to the love and support offered by the charities and staff at Bristol, they made it bearable and allowed us to be strong for Freddie.

Cots for Tots arranged for both of us to have accommodation right outside the hospital - so when I couldn't sleep I was able to cross the road and spend time with my baby boy. It was one less thing for us to worry about and it meant that I could be discharged early so Andrew and I could remain together during this heartbreak.

The NICU staff did everything they could to assist us, even with COVID-19 protocols in full swing. Freddie's grandparents were able to visit on 3 separate occasions which meant that on his last day we were able to spend it as a family.

They looked after us as a family and made it possible to create precious memories that we will forever cherish.

This is for you Freddie 💙
